Third Eye LARPing Game from Viewdle on Vimeo.
Which of Your Friends are a Vampire, and Which are Vampire Slayers?
Use your android phone with a FREE app that was just released yesterday to play a vampire versus slayer Third Eye game. Use the camera on your phone with Viewdle to see which of your friends are vampires, and which are slayers. Vanquish your enemy – even if you thought they were your friends . . . or your mother.
What They Say:
Third Eye in Beta is a reality-based mobile game, created with Viewdle face recognition technology. See if you are a Vampire or a Slayer, and recognize the enemies near you.
Viewdle’s facial recognition technology uses Android’s smartphone cameras and computer algorithms to read, tag and remember your friends. Just point the relic (your phone) at your buddy and snap a picture. The relic uncovers their true nature by reading their “faceprint”. It then tells you whether that person is a bloodsucking vampire or a human vampire slayer. The Viewdle app then autotags your pictures for you, and you can upload them to Facebook of Flickr. (For privacy reasons you can only tag people who are already your friends on Facebook.)
The Sacrament Bee tells us: “Third Eye’s gameplay and narrative developed across three continents is rooted in European, Asian and Caribbean history as it assigns players to historically-based societies and clans. Through an accelerometer-based mission, players are assigned to one of eight orders, such as the Borgias, the power-grabbing family from Spain that gained control of the Papacy in Renaissance Europe; the Loogaroos, a sect whose origins are in the voodoo folklore tradition of Haiti; the Shinobis, the sixth-century secretive Japanese clan that gave rise to the ninjas; and the Order of the Rose, the German-based source of the covert society know as the Rosicrucians. Once assigned a warrior family, players assemble armies, form alliances, protect their empires and attack foes. The objective of the first part of Third Eye is to amass an army and establish alliances. The second and third parts, which will come out later this year, will pit the assembled clans against one another in battle.”
There are families and clans on both sides, vampire or slayer. (Read about them here.) Once you are assigned, Viewdle will tell you if there are others nearby that can be your allies.
This is just phase one in a trilogy where the goal is to amass your army. Battles between clans will play out in installments due for release later this year. Marisol MacGregor, Viewdle’s head of product management says in the later phases the app will identify objects from the real world for use in the battle.
